I’m New to Death Knight Tanking!
I’ve been busy lately but I have had a chance to get my Death Knight defense capped!
I’m pretty excited about tanking with Dharhann and I’ve been running Trial of the Champion repeatedly to gear up. I decided to go with 2xPeacekeeper Blade and a dual wield spec. Some people say dual wield is silly but I can’t resist. Anyhow….
Some things I’ve noticed:
AoE is EASY!
Toc is a pretty AoE intensive instance and I’ve found that tanking is so much easier on my DK than on my Warrior. I throw down a Death and Decay at the edge of the foes and death grip in any casters. A Howling Blast and a Blood Boil seal the deal. After that its all downhill!
I haven’t had much trouble with aggro!
Originally a lot of people were telling me that Death Knights have an aggro problem. I haven’t found this to be the case yet. I have been able to maintain significant aggro during Bladestorm and some other aggro-intense abilities. I have also been running with raid geared 80’s and I figure if there was going to be aggro issues, they would crop up in these geared groups.
Not so many cooldowns!
I’m used to tanking on a warrior and I find that I get to spend more time making things angry and less time cowering. All I really need are Unbreakable Armor, Anti-Magic Shell and Icebound Fortitude. I suppose its a little scary to have less panic buttons but I still feel like I’m safe without the need to remember all of those other buttons.
Overall, I’m enjoying my Death Knight. I love the frost tree and tanking is a great excuse to Howling Blast everything in sight. Now all I have to do is get some more gear…
